Looking for something for your littlest reader? A number of fun board books are available. The books below are for newborns and older and are available for purchase or preorder. The books are listed in order of suggested age from youngest to oldest.

HEAD, SHOULDERS, KNEES, AND TOES: BEGINNING BABY, by Chronicle Books, Chronicle Books, July 12, 2022, Board Book, $7.99 (ages 0-3)

The beloved song “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes” comes to life in this adaptation. The Beginning Baby animal friends exercise and sing together, and babies are encouraged to find their heads, shoulders, knees, and toes right along with them. —Synopsis provided by Chronicle Books

This sweet board book is very simple. Animals on a white background act out the song. Bright colors and the interactive nature of this book are sure to appeal to little ones.

YOU’RE A HELPER!: BEGINNING BABY, by Chronicle Books, Chronicle Books, July 12, 2022, Board Book, $7.99 (ages 0-3)

It’s a busy day for the Beginning Baby animal friends, and they could use some help! In YOU’RE A HELPER, baby can push the embedded slides to help Paisley the octopus water plants, Layla the llama find a crayon, Mia the monkey put away toys, and other characters with their activities around the house. It all ends with a hug for Mateo the red panda, who needs one after getting an ouchie. —Synopsis provided by Chronicle Books

Simple finger slides will appeal to little ones as will fun animals and bright colors. Made of strong materials, this book should withstand lots of use.

BOOKSCAPE BOARD BOOKS: WILD ANIMALS, by Ingela P. Arrhenius, Chronicle Books, June 7, 2022, Board Book, $8.99 (ages 0-3)

Visit the animals of the savanna in this one-of-a-kind format, complete with art by celebrated illustrator Ingela P Arrhenius. Each uniquely shaped page overlaps with the next to create a complete landscape when closed — and an immersive world to explore with each turn of the page when open. —Synopsis provided by Chronicle Books

This uniquely shaped board book stands out for all the right reasons. Little ones will be drawn to the cute animals and their fun shapes.

WHAT DO YOU SEE?: A MAGIC SLIDE-AND-FIND BOOK, by Renata Bueno, Twirl, May 3, 2022, Board Book $16.99 (ages 2-4)

It’s magic! Unscramble and reveal amusing images with a magic picture finder enclosed in the book. Is it a triangle or a fish? An apple tree or a raspberry bush? To find out, readers line up the black stripes of the magic picture finder with the strips on the illustration. It’s a look-and-find book with a twist! —Synopsis provided by Twirl

This interactive book includes an acetate sheet and storage pocket in the book and an answer key with labels at the back of the book. Bold colors and simple illustrations emerge as little hands manipulate the magic finder. This mini mystery book offers a fun challenge for little ones. Even my 8-year-old thinks that this book is cool.
