Tell Me About Space is fun, informative board book

TELL ME ABOUT SPACE, by Lisa Varchol Perron and Jennifer Falkner, Little Simon, Oct. 3, 2023, Board Book, $8.99 (3 and up)

Learn about the night sky in Tell Me About Space, a nonfiction board book by Lisa Varchol Perron and Jennifer Falkner.

Tell me why the sun goes down.
    What happens to its light?

The sun stays put! It’s Earth that spins,
    creating day and night.

Why don’t we float into space? How many moons are there? A child asks about outer space, and their grownup answers in rhyming, factual text. Little ones will learn that the earth is constantly spinning, that Saturn isn’t the only planet with rings, and that most planets have their own moons.  —Synopsis provided by Little Simon

From the time they can talk, little ones have questions about the sky. At first, it starts with the sun, moon and stars, but it doesn’t take long before their eyes are opened to a magical world beyond our planet.

Tell Me About Space is designed to be a primer of sorts for young children. And while the question/answer format has a whimsical feel, this book does feature facts that kids will quickly grab on to. Topics include the Earth’s rotation, gravity, the planets, and how the moon reflects sunlight.

Sweet illustrations of a mother and child accompany bold images from space.
