WHEN BUMBLEBEES GO TO SLEEP, by Claire Wrenn Bobrow and Natalia Vasilica, Sourcebooks Explore, Aug. 5, 2025, Board Book, $8.99 (Ages 0-4)

What do bumblebees do when it’s time to go to bed? Learn their nighttime habits in When Bumblebees Go to Sleep, by Claire Wrenn Bobrow and Natalia Vasilica.

In this rhyming bedtime board book, float among the flowers with Bumble, a drowsy bumblebee in search of a place to sleep. What other animals will he meet along the way? What flowers will make the perfect beds for Bumble and his friends when they need a spot to snuggle up for the night? In this nonfiction lullaby, children will learn that bumblebees fall asleep just like they do―sometimes right inside flowers! —Synopsis provided by Sourcebooks Explore

Have you ever found a bee taking a nap inside a flower? I have. Most mornings I can walk through my garden and find a few. When Bumblebees Go to Sleep explains that concept for little ones.

When Bumblebees Go to Sleep is a sweet, rhymical read that sets the stage for bedtime. Claire Wrenn Bobrow’s lilting text is warm and inviting as it builds on vocabulary. And a longer explanation at the end of the book adds context. Natalia Vasilica’s sweet illustrations help set the tone with bright colors and friendly insects. A think, sturdy cover should hold up to lots of use.
