Wings of Fire Folded Flyers & Wishing Stars are fun paper-craf gifts

By Jessica on March 30, 2026 ages 7 and up, ages 8 & up, picture books

Kids love doing as much as reading and the following books offer lots paper craft fun. Wings of Fire Folded Flyers and Wishing Stars are great gift options.

WINGS OF FIRE FOLDED FLYERS, by Editors of Klutz, Klutz, Feb. 3, 2026, Paperback, $19.99 (ages 8 and up)

Fold stunning dragons — that really fly — featuring characters from the Wings of Fire series.

Send paper dragons flying through the sky! With designs inspired by the bestselling Wings of Fire series, these 10 papercraft projects can soar, glide, and race each other. Follow the illustrated, step-by-step instructions with the premium punch-out art to assemble your flyer, including six full-sized dragons and four adorable dragonets. You’ll find tons of expert tips to help get the most out of your dragons, plus facts about some of your favorite dragons like Glory, Tsunami, Sunny, and many more! —Synopsis provided by Klutz

My 12-year-old Wings of Fire fan saw this book and started salivating. She loved that in addition to the instructions, a primer of sorts for each dragon type is included. Each primer includes information on scales, eyes, unusual characteristics, abilities, habitat and diet. A brief introduction of each individual dragon is also included. My daughter said the instructions are clear, but you do have to be precise. Some of the dragons fly better than others. Overall, it’s a great gift option for fans of the series.

WISHING STARS, by Editors of Klutz, Feb. 3, 2026, Paperback, $12.99 (ages 7 and up)

Make a wish! Then make another and another…

Here’s the iconic wishing star origami craft — with so much more! Fold the included strips and squares into multiple different designs, including tiny stars, paper chains, adorable cat rings, and tiny boxes to store and fit your creations. There’s also a twirly fidget toy to level up your skills, plus funny fortunes to make you smile. Make lucky charms for your nearest and dearest, with tons of colors and patterns to choose from. —Synopsis provided by Klutz

This simple origami set takes a little patience and offers a big payoff. Once you get used to making each item, the folding becomes much faster and more accurate. It’s nice that this set includes more than the wishing stars, although they are fun on their own. The cat rings are particularly fun. This is a good gift option for creative kids who enjoy using their hands.
