The Big Fat High School Algebra 2 Workbook is excellent resource

THE BIG FAT HIGH SCHOOL ALGEBRA 2 WORKBOOK: 400+ ALGEBRA 2 PRACTICE EXERCISES (BIG FAT NOTEBOOKS), by Workman Publishing, Workman Kids, Sept. 16, 2025, Hardcover, $16.99 (

The Big Fat High School Algebra 2 Workbook is an excellent supplement to Algebra 2 class that features examples, problems and solutions.

Give students the extra practice they need to master and ace their Algebra 2 class with this expansive write-in workbook, featuring more than 130 exercises, plus step-by-step solutions.

Each chapter in this comprehensive workbook aligns with a chapter in the Algebra 2 study guide, providing students the opportunity to reinforce their Algebra 2 skills with extra in-depth practice.

Each Workbook chapter begins with a brief recap of concepts and has 10-15 robust practice questions covering all the skills reviewed in each chapter. A variety of question types like solving equations, graphing functions, applying algebra skills to real world problems, and more, provide a broad assessment of student understanding. In the back of the book, an in-depth solutions section takes readers step-by-step through each problem, showing them how to get the right answer, and helping them check their work.

More than a drill and kill workbook, it’s a “how to” and “here’s why” that can be used to supplement classroom instruction. And, it’s written, vetted, and approved by the experts— high school Algebra 2 teachers. —Synopsis provided by Workman Kids

I’m a big fan of Workman’s Big Fat Notebook series, which covers everything from math and science to English and history.

What I particularly like about The Big Fat High School Algebra 2 Workbook is that it’s not just a workbook. Each chapter has step-by-step instructions, problems with space to do them in the book and a section at the end with the answers. It provides that extra bit of help that some students need to make concepts really stick. It’s the sort of book I wish had been around when I was in high school.

My kid is in pre-algebra right now, and I’m planning on buying The Big Fat High School Algebra 1 Workbook for her next year. On a side note, she loves Everything You Need to Ace World History in One Big Fat Notebook and is constantly quizzing us with it. I can’t recommend the books from this series enough.
