GREEK MYTHS: SOLVE MAZES, CRACK CODES AND UNTANGLE RIDDLES (PUZZLE HERO SERIES, 1), by Catherine Ard and Maria Surducan, Thames & Hudson, April 14, 2026, Hardcover, $19.95, (ages 7-10)

Learn about Greek mythology and have fun while doing it with Greek Myths: Solve Mazes, Crack Codes and Untangle Riddles, by Catherine Ard and Maria Surducan.

In this interactive book of Greek mythology, readers are invited to become a Puzzle Hero by taking on their very own quest through the myths of ancient Greece. By navigating mazes and labyrinths, cracking codes, and solving riddles, they will guide Persephone out of the underworld so Spring can begin, join Jason and the Argonauts on their quest for the golden fleece, help Perseus avoid the terrifying gaze of the snake- haired gorgon Medusa, and much more.

Each spread features a Greek myth retold in witty, relatable style by children’s book author Catherine Ard, alongside a beautifully illustrated puzzle crafted by illustrator Maria Surducan, transporting readers into the story.

This innovative take on familiar and timeless tales is sure to engage and enthuse young minds. It’s the perfect read for puzzle-lovers, a brilliant introduction to mythology for newcomers, and offers a fresh new angle for kids who already love these classic stories. —Synopsis provided by Thames & Hudson

Greek Myths is the first book in a planned series that features myths from around the world. This book is a beginner’s guide to ancient Greece that starts out with all the basics before jumping into the interactive bit. It’s a highly visual overview, culminating with an Olympus family tree.

From there, each myth is accompanied by a maze, puzzle or code. The illustrations are bright and pay homage to art from the time period. The biggest selling point for Greek Myths is that each two-page spread can stand alone. Kids will likely want to read more than one myth, but they won’t be overwhelmed by the 50 pages. It’s a fun read that should appeal to a large cross-section of readers.
