My Big Book of Animals SoundsMY BIG BOOK OF ANIMAL SOUNDS, by Mélisande Luthringer, Twirl, Aug. 25, 2026, Board Book, $22.99 (ages 0-3)

Learn what noises animals around the world make in My Big Book of Animals Sounds, a board book by Mélisande Luthringer.

Woof woof! Meow! Moo . . . Who’s making that sound? Press the buttons to find out! This interactive book helps children develop important listening skills, while they learn to identify animals and the sounds that they make. Included in this collection of more than 100 sounds are birds, insects, forest animals, and even underwater creatures.  —Synopsis provided by Twirl

This cute novelty board book has 20 buttons that play more than 100 sounds. Each “topic” (dogs, cats, in the backyard, in the field, etc.) focuses on 5 or 6 animals. The corresponding buttons feature a narrator who reads the words on the page and each animal sound.

Little ones will love pushing the buttons with each turn of the page. Simple illustrations are friendly and colorful. Solid construction means it should hold up to a lot of use.

When the company cut back, she lost her position covering books, but that doesn't mean she stopped reading. If anything, the whole experience made her more passionate about reading and giving people the tools to make informed decisions in their own book choices.
