Lyla Lee’s new series features a Korean-American girl who wants to fit in and be herself. The first book is Mindy Kim and the Yummy Seaweed Business.

I jumped at the chance to read/review the Lottie Perkins series written by Katrina Nannestad and illustrated by Makoto Koji.

Since 1981, Claudia Mills has written more than 50 books for children. Her latest chapter book is Nixie Ness, Cooking Star.

Princess Cora and the Crocodile, by Laura Amy Schlitz and Brian Floca, is great fun for younger readers, and is a bit of a cautionary tale for parents.

American Girl’s newest line of characters, WellieWishers, includes books and dolls geared toward 5-8-year-olds. But they work well for younger girls, too.
